In ‘Ruminate Hibernate’ Andy Bauer produces music for new multimedia collaboration with Kissey Asplund about reformulating the past into something new

Andy Bauer worked with artist Kissey Asplund on this new multimedia collaboration, ‘Ruminate Hibernate,’ about building strength through winter’s dormancy, considering the past, and using this to blossom into the new. During the summer of 2020, Andy responded to collective frustration with existing human inequalities and inequities, via meditation on the drums for this piece. According to Bauer, “It wasn’t about writing or composing, but intuitively responding to the moment we were going through in the US and abroad.”

“Hibernation is a stage where dormancy can be used to form something new. Rumination is to deeply consider. Underneath all the snow— the plants, trees, insects, and animals reset, get ready to explore the next stage of life through a big silent re-charge. There is massive power in containing and reformulating energy in order to blossom more vibrantly in the next stage. This past year a lot has happened, sparking a much needed change.
