Open La Puerta.
Open La Puerta is a music and sound collage performance inspired by composer Martin Rodriguez’s heritage as a Mexican-Polish-American. Using a patchwork of sounds influenced by growing up on the boarder town of Rio Rico, Arizona to coming of age in a Seattle suburb in the 90s, he created a cinematic soundscapes offering a door to the imagination. Martin mixed elements of improvisation and found art (including family videos & photos), along with hand made electronic instruments, creating a musical atmosphere that reflected his diverse upbringing and the roads that have brought him to call Montréal home.
Open La Puerta debuted at the MainLine Theatre on Feb. 28, 2013 with Andy Bauer (Drums), Jérémi Roy (Bass/Synth), David Ryshpan (Rhodes/Synth) and Félix Petit (Saxophone)
